DISCO Careers: Meet the SDR That Lives up to his Name

Interested in a career at DISCO? Apply to join the SDR team.

I found DISCO through an app called Handshake my senior year at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. I studied economics and business while playing college football, and felt that a sales role would be a great fit for me. I chose DISCO over other companies to start my career not only because of the opportunity to join a rapidly growing company that is disrupting an entire industry, but also the amazing experience I had during my interview process. Every Discovian I met was welcoming, encouraging, and exuded excitement about the future of the company. I knew this was the right place for me.

On an average day, I wake up around 6:30 a.m. to work out. I log in around 8 a.m. and respond to my emails and Slacks, then check my meetings for the day. Next, I look at my strategic accounts and do some prospecting to develop a game plan. At the beginning of the week, I organize my outreach calls into tasks. Every day, I check my tasks to see whom I will be touching base with, then refresh myself by reviewing past opportunities and calls. Most mornings we have a team meeting with our manager to check in with the team and see if anyone needs help. After our team standup, I get started on my meetings and calls for the day. Throughout the week, I also meet with my Regional Sales Executives (RSEs) to strategize on how to grow accounts. Outside of client outreach, I also connect regularly with my mentors and colleagues for coaching and check-ins.

There are many exciting parts about being an SDR at DISCO. The rapid growth we are experiencing means fast career development, as well as numerous opportunities within the company. Senior leadership is constantly recognizing Discovians for their hard work and performance, which is something not often seen at larger companies. I love knowing that we are helping legal teams by introducing them to DISCO, and delivering experiences that feel “magical” to users.

My most valuable skill as an SDR is work ethic — which I honed as a student-athlete.

When starting out as an SDR, you have to work diligently to make connections and build your book of business. Hard work and consistency are key. I have also found that being coachable and open to constructive feedback helps me be successful.

DISCO has also helped me develop a variety of soft skills that will be important for my career growth. The need to be efficient with my time to balance meetings and calls has improved my time management; I’m better at communicating with prospects and my team; and I have honed critical thinking and resourcefulness which guides my strategic outreach and talking prospects through their current needs.

I would tell any prospective SDR candidate that working for DISCO is an opportunity of a lifetime.

Yes, I may be biased! DISCO offers great room for growth in sales or at other opportunities within the company.

The culture you will experience here is one of a kind. Senior leadership will know your name, give you recognition, and listen to your feedback. It is a fun, encouraging environment.

I am so blessed to be at DISCO and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
